According to Zumbra culture, the Gym Trials are rites of passage made by old tribal societies. In the actual days, they made it more modern but keeping the most part of the old tradition. Zumbra has 8 different Trial Leaders, who especializes in a specific type of battle and type. The objetive of Gym Trials is to teach different types of actions when battling to young trainers, so they could grow strong enough to beat the Elite Four and the Champion.
A Trial Leaders have a lot of rules to follow. One of them is to not damage the environment, so they have to keep the area Pokémon in their natural place. A Leader must use a Badge Amulet to indentify a new or a veteran trainer. The Leader must be an indigenous of Zumbra. A Gym Trial consists of battling with trainers and wild Pokémon, finding items and the final trainer to be challenged is the Trial Leader. When the Leader is defeated, the trainer gets a Badge Amulet, a TM, and a Z-Crystal.
The Leaders does not have a order to be challenged, different from their counterpart, Gym Leaders. Despite this, the order is defined by its trainer and that determines the level of their Pokémon. Similar to Badges, completing Gym Trials can expand the amount of items purchasable in Poké Marts and will make traded Pokémon obey the player.
